General Osteopathic Council

InFocus

Would you like to join our patient and public partnership group and contribute to our work?

  • Would you like to be involved in developing information for patients and the public?
  • Are you interested in standards of osteopathic practice?

Patient partnership group imageWe are setting up a Patient and Public Partnership Group so that
we can work more closely with patients to improve our services,
better protect the public, and provide patients and the public with
the information they need about osteopathic practice.

Purpose of the group

We expect that members of the group will

  • provide a patient and public perspective to inform our work;
  • assist in developing GOsC communication materials.

How the group will operate

The group will mainly be a ‘virtual group’, communicating with us via email or post. Those who wish to join who do not have access to the Internet can make comments by post or over the phone. If it would be helpful for specific issues we may invite group members to discussion (focus) groups, in which case reasonable travel costs would be provided.

Who can join?

You need to be more than 18 years old to join the group and there is no upper age limit. Group members should either be osteopathic patients or have an interest in osteopathic practice. We will be looking to include members from all four UK countries.

Remuneration

Membership of the Patient and Public Partnership Group is a voluntary position. On completion of a project, a £25 gift voucher will be awarded to three participants who have made a contribution, selected at random.
